Favorite Christmas
Traditions
Kristyne McDaniel
One of the things that best survives the
years is the memories you cultivate in the minds of your
family. A great way to cultivate memories is to reinforce
pleasant events with repetition.
It is well known that children love repetition. You can see
it when they request the same bed time story, watch the same
movie, eat the same favorite foods, and create patterns in the
many areas of their young lives. The repitition give them
comfort through having something pleasurable that they can
repeat when they want to.
Reinforcing holiday traditions is a wonderful way to create
anticipation for Christmas Day itself, to help children learn
to wait for special events, and to delay gratification on many
other fronts.
There are reasons why all societies have traditions that
they follow. Please use this resource to help you review
different Christmas holiday ideas, and see whether any of them
will fit into your life.
